BIRMINGHAM, UK: Tyre company Goodyear has confirmed that it is sounding out PR agencies ahead of a potential review of its pan-European PR business.

Goodyear’s procurement department has already begun contacting agencies in the UK. The tyre company does not currently have a retained agency for the markets and scope of work under review.

Goodyear UK corporate communications manager James Bailey told the Holmes Report that Goodyear is having a “look at the market” before deciding whether to progress to a full-blown pitch.

“We are always looking to maximise the efficiency of using a smaller number of suppliers,” said Bailey. “It’s having a look at the market but that’s no different to what we do every year.”

Goodyear is currently Europe’s second largest tyre manufacturer, behind French giant Michelin. In the UK, it also owns 75 per cent of Goodyear Dunlop.
