LONDON—Grayling has been appointed by Ryder Cup Europe to manage its international communications in the run-up to the next UK staging of the Cup which will take place at The Gleneagles Hotel in Scotland, in September 2014. The Ryder Cup is a biennial golf competition between teams from Europe and the United States

The appointment was made following a comprehensive pitch process, with Grayling awarded a brief to manage a programme focusing on Scotland, the rest of the UK and Europe. Grayling will be partnering with specialist golf PR boutique Landmark Media International and activity will span the preparation and build-up phases of the event as well as the three days of the competition.

In addition to promoting The 2014 Ryder Cup, the program will also include a focus on the French market to pave the way for the 2018 event at Le Golf National in Paris and possible future editions of The Ryder Cup in mainland Europe.

Grayling’s Scottish team, based in Edinburgh, will provide a dedicated Scottish press office and support the stakeholder engagement programme, while the company’s London office will lead the European media relations programme.

According to Richard Hills, The Ryder Cup director: “The selection process was extremely competitive but Grayling, in tandem with Landmark Media International, ticked all the important boxes for us and we are confident they will help us, in tandem with our fellow stakeholders The Gleneagles Hotel and the Scottish Government, achieve all our key objectives over the next two years.”
