SAN FRANCISCO — Hotwire has hired John Mahoney as the agency's first chief client officer, as Barbara Bates (pictured) continues to reshape the agency after becoming CEO earlier this year.
Mahoney joins the firm from Sapient Razorfish, where he was VP and client partner. In addition Hotwire has announced two global promotions: John Brown relocates from London to New York to become group SVP for strategy and innovation, while Sahana Jayaraman is named EVP and global head of Hotwire’s digital brand lab.
"Things are moving pretty fast here at Hotwire and adding John Mahoney as CCO is a real commitment from us to doing things differently," said Bates. "We want and need talent that will challenge us and our clients to achieve more, and today’s announcements show the confidence we have in our growth plans as well as our ability to step outside of the usual agency comfort zones."
Mahoney, who reports to Bates, spent two years at Sapient Razorfish, prior to which he was associate partner and VP and Publicis digital agency Rosetta. As part of Hotwire’s global leadership team, he is charged with focusing on Hotwire’s global client base and addressing the challenges faced by CMOs and the brands they represent.
Brown, who was previously UK head of engagement, has been with Hotwire in London since 2014. Jayaraman, meanwhile, was SVP and head of digital engagement after arriving at Hotwire via the 2016 acquisition of Eastwick.
Bates, who previously led Eastwick, has unveiled several new roles and initiatives since taking charge of Hotwire, including naming Alex MacLaverty as global COO and elevating Emma Hazan to global head of consumer. It is also understood that further geographic expansion is on the cards, potentially in Asia-Pacific.
