HONG KONG — HSBC Greater China communications head Adam Harper has departed the bank, the Holmes Report has learned.
Harper, who is currently on gardening leave, leaves after more than seven years with HSBC in Asia-Pacific. After serving as comms head for the bank's global banking & markets division, Harper became HK head of communications in 2015, before being promoted to the same role across Greater China three years later.
Harper declined to comment when contacted by the Holmes Report. However, it is understood that he will launch his own consultancy in 2020.
Harper's departure comes as HSBC readies new global communications leadership, in the shape of Steve John who will arrive from McKinsey in December. As HSBC's new global chief communications officer, John takes on a role that was previously held by Pierre Goad.
Prior to joining HSBC in 2012, Harper spent four years at Credit Suisse as VP of corporate communications.
HSBC did not respond to request for comment as this story went live.
