NEW DELHI--Chinese tech brand Huawei has handed its Indian PR account to MSLGroup.

The move sees 20:20 MSL take charge of Huawei's communications mandate in India across its three business groups: networking, enterprise and devices. The business was previously handled by Weber Shandwick.

In a statement, MSLGroup noted that the business adds to its existing relationship with Huawei in Brussels, China, Germany and France, although the Chinese company's retained firm in the last three of those markets is Burson-Marsteller.

Burson-Marsteller Hong Kong remains Huawei's global lead agency. The company's global branding account, meanwhile, is handled by a combined WPP team.

Huawei India head of PR and brand Suresh Vaidyanathan said that the company had opted to "align with a global network" in order to achieve its goal of becoming a major "ICT player".

“While we were selected locally in India for our capabilities and expertise in this market, it no doubt allows for better and more seamless advisory as we work with Huawei in several of their key markets,” added 20:20 MSL client engagement director Amrit Ahuja.

20:20 will lead the business from its New Delhi office, supported by seven satellite offices across India.
