HONG KONG--Jean-Michel Dumont arrived in Asia 30 years ago, serving initially as a consultant for pioneering Asian public relations firm Interasia (opening its Beijing office) and later as a general manager for Edelman, before joining Ruder Finn in 2001 as the New York firm embarked upon its international expansion.

In the 15 years since then, he has built Ruder Finn into one of the leading multinational agencies in China, well known and well regarded for its expertise in the automotive, luxury goods, and broader consumer lifestyle categories, and over the past five years has opened three additional offices in Asia, building Ruder Finn into an impressive regional player.

That track record makes him a worthy recipient of one of our coveted SABRE Awards for outstanding Individual Achievement.

Dumont’s own expertise spans corporate communications and CSR (he was involved in strategy development and led accounts that included “Challenge Bibendum”, the Global Michelin Green Mobility event, the Audi “Green Driving” campaign, and the successful “Driving Dream” project, recognised by UNICEF as the best public-private partnership in China); major international events, working with the Beijing 2000 Olympic Bid Committee; and crisis, providing Beijing government communication support during the SARS outbreak in 2003.

His lengthy experience in Asia gives Jean-Michel a thorough understanding of how support senior executives. Over the years, he has led messaging, media and crisis trainings for clients as diverse as Audi, Citibank, Michelin, Danone, Roche or SG Private Banking, as well as executives from the government of Brazil, China or Colombia.

A native of France, he is fluent in French, English, Spanish and Portuguese and has a working knowledge of Mandarin and Italian.

The award will be presented during our SABRE Awards dinner on September 28 in Hong Kong.  Tickets are available here.
