DUBLIN--Ireland’s food safety body is tendering €400,000 worth of PR activity, as it seeks to step up its public engagement.

Two briefs are being tendered by Safefood, the North-South body that oversees food safety and nutrition across the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland. Each is worth up to €200,000, with Safefood expecting to appoint two agencies to support its brand development objectives.

Safefood is searching for agencies to handle two to three public awareness campaigns per year, focusing on food safety and healthy eating. In addition, the organisation requires support for numerous consumer news and scientific research launches throughout the year.

Specific services include comms planning, issues management, stakeholder relations and media counsel.

Safefood was established in 1999 and is charged with researching and promoting food safety, surveilling foodborne diseases and developing scientific cooperation. In addition, it has a general remit to act as an independent source of scientific advice.
