NEW YORK—Porter Novelli has hired Jennifer Swint as managing director of its Washington, DC, office. Swint will be responsible for fueling Porter Novelli's growth in Washington and providing senior public affairs counsel to the agency's clients. She will report to Brad MacAfee, recently named president, North America.

Swint comes to Porter Novelli from APCO Worldwide, where she was a senior director overseeing the firm's business development function. Prior to APCO, she was president of Nine Dot Strategies, an independent communications and public affairs agency she launched in 2008.

She was previously a senior executive at Atlantic Media Company, including a year as president of Atlantic Live, developing and leading a newly-formed business unit focusing on all non-editorial aspects of the company including live events, qualitative/quantitative research and other potential growth opportunities.

Before that she was an executive vice president with Powell Tate/Weber Shandwick.
