BARCELONA—José Antonio Llorente is the founding partner and chairman of Llorente & Cuenca, the largest public relations firm headquartered in Spain, a leader in corporate and financial communications, and one of the largest PR businesses in the Spanish and Portuguese speaking world.

Since founding Llorente & Cuenca in 1995, Llorente has built it into a €19 million business, with 14 partners and a team of 300 professionals spread across offices in Spain (Madrid and Barcelona) and Portugal, Argentina, Brazil (Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo), Colombia, China, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, Portugal and the Dominican Republic.

The firm is best known for its work in the corporate and financial arena—it is one of the leaders in the European mergers and acquisition arena, both in its own right and as part of the AMO network—and increasingly in public affairs. Llorente himself has 25 years of experience in M&A, offerings and divestitures.

Those achievements make him a worthy recipient of one of our SABRE Awards for Outstanding Individual Achievement.

Before founding L&C, Llorente worked for 10 years with Burson-Marsteller, where he became CEO. Earlier, he spent five years in the communications department of the CEOE (Spanish Confederation of Business Organisations) and was a journalist with the news agency EFE.

He is currently on the board of trustees of the EuroAmerica Foundation and the management board of the Spanish Association of Non-Controlling Shareholders in Listed Companies. He is also on the SME Advisory Council of the Spanish Confederation of Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, the management board of the Spanish Agencies Association and the advisory board for the Executive MBA in Professional Services Organisation Management organised by Garrigues.
