OAK BROOK, ILLINOIS — Fast food giant McDonald’s has launched a search for a PR agency to bolster awareness of its consumer technology, such as apps, the Holmes Report has learned.

A McDonald’s spokesperson confirmed the company has issued an RFP, although she declined to elaborate.

Sources, however, said the Illinois-based corporation is seeking an agency to handle the consumer-oriented technology portion of its business — offerings such as apps and online services — on an ongoing basis.

McDonald’s existing technology includes making buying food as seamless as possible.  The company’s app allows users to mobile order and pay for food, and pick it up curbside, as well as get deals and coupons. Customers who use prepaid Arch Cards can reload them online.

McDonald’s has already met with a number of agencies, sources said. Due to the limited scope of the work, a new agency deal would not infringe on McDonald’s six-decade long relationship with its key global partner, Golin.
