NEW DELHI—Meenu Handa is leaving Amazon to become communications head at Google India.

Handa, considered one of the country's top corporate communicators, leaves Amazon after almost three years. Previously, she spent seven years overseeing corporate communications at Microsoft India.

At Google, she succeeds Paroma Roy Chowdury, who left last year to become communications VP at Softbank.

Handa joins Google with the company set to expand its operations considerably in India. At a recent event, CEO Sundar Pichai said that Google will hire more engineers, ramp up existing campuses, open a “huge” new campus in Hyderabad and expand its R&D facility in Bangalore.

Handa, who joins Google in January, confirmed the appointment when contacted by the Holmes Report, but declined to provide further comment.
