HONG KONG — MHP Communications has hired James Hill as general manager of its Hong Kong office, a newly-created role that follows the firm's growth in the region.

Hill, a financial communications specialist, will report to MHP regional CEO Emma Smith. Prior to MHP, he spent several years with Finsbury, helping to launch the firm's Asia presence in 2011. Before that, he served as head of financial communications at Cable & Wireless Worldwide.

In his new role, Hill will focus on further developing the consultancy’s existing financial and professional services and TMT offering, along with extending its capital markets presence across the region.

Hill's arrival follows MHP's regional expansion into Singapore last year. "We have longstanding strategic advisory experience in Asia and a growing network of offices, which is translating to exciting mandates from leading businesses and individuals across several industries," said Smith.

"James’ expertise in advising companies on complex reputation and investor relations briefs, including high profile cross border merger and acquisitions and crisis and issues management, complements our existing skillsets."

MHP expanded into Asia when it acquired Smith's firm The Consultancy in 2013.

"[Hill's] appointment, along with the opening of our office in Singapore last year, demonstrates our continued progress in the region under the inspirational leadership of Emma Smith," added MHP global CEO Alex Bigg.
