BEIJING—Nick Wheeler has departed Ketchum after more than 12 years with the firm in China, where he was GM of the Beijing office.
Wheeler's exit comes as Ketchum appoints Bruce Shu as China MD, overseeing the firm's operations in Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou.
"Nick has left Ketchum to pursue another opportunity," said a Ketchum spokesperson. "We’d like to thank him for his contribution to our business and the great job he did in driving our brand in the Chinese market."
Ketchum's Beijing office is now led by deputy GM Peng Yue, added the spokesperson.
Wheeler told the Holmes Report that he has left to focus on a "project that I have been developing over the last couple of years but that now requires my undivided attention." He declined to provide further details at this stage.
Wheeler joined Ketchum in 2002 as VP of the corporate communications practice in Beijing, before being promoted to GM of the office in 2004.
