NEW YORK—Pharmaceutical giant Pfizer has retained JeffreyGroup to execute a public health campaign across 12 Latin American countries.

In response to a growing burden facing adults who suffer from pneumococcal disease, Pfizer is seeking to educate Latin Americans about the ease and effectiveness of vaccines for adults over the age of 50. JeffreyGroup was selected in a competitive search to help lead the effort.

“With approximately 125,000 Latin Americans over the age of 50 dying each year from pneumococcal disease, we felt it was critical to lead an aggressive awareness campaign to help educate the public about their prevention options,” says Mark Partridge, emerging markets business unit for Pfizer vaccines. “With that in mind, it was just as critical to choose the right partner with demonstrated healthcare expertise in the complex Latin American regulatory environment.”

The campaign focuses on awareness and prevention, taking an unbranded approach and using a trilingual website, social media management, testimonial videos, key opinion leader outreach, consumer events, community outreach and traditional media relations.
