SAN JOSE — Polycom has enlisted Hill + Knowlton Strategies for PR support as it evolves its unified communications offerings for cloud and mobile environments.

H+K has been working with Polycom since January on the high-six figure business, following a review process held last year. Polycom previously worked with Access Communications since 2009.

“We’re moving towards being a software-led company,” said Shawn Dainas, Polycom’s senior director of corporate communications. This involves making enterprise video collaboration accessible beyond conference rooms to desktops, browsers and mobile devices.

Within the month, Polycom expects to launch RealPresence CloudAxis that lets its users connect with others via Skype, Facebook, Google Talk and among other web camera-enabled video apps. This integration make collaboration easier, while also extending Polycom’s “enterprise-grade” quality and security features to the video sessions, Dainas said.

This launch is central to the narrative that H+K is working with Polycom to develop as the company builds a more prominent voice around the topics of collaboration, the future of work, the mobile cloud, and how video can build trust among distributed teams.

Customer case studies will be a major vehicle for spurring these discussions, Dainas said. Last year, Polycom publicized more than 50 case studies and plans to continue that frequency in 2013, focusing on even higher-tier customer stories. Its Fortune 100 customers include IBM, PepsiCo and Dow.
