NEW YORK — PR Council president Renee Wilson has decided to leave the organization, likely before her contract is up in December.
The Council has already formed a search committee comprised of board members charged with finding its next president. At least three potential candidates have expressed interest in the job, sources said.
Wilson, who took over as president in December 2015, will continue in her role as president at least through the summer, and possibly longer depending on when her replacement is found, according to the group. Wilson didn't respond to request for comment, referring calls to the organization.
The Council, for its part, issued a statement regarding Wilson’s departure, saying her decision to not renew her contract stems from “a desire to pursue projects within the communications industry and focus on some personal objectives.”
Before joining the Council, Wilson held a number of senior positions at various agencies including MSL, where she spent roughly nine years ending in 2015. During the last five of those years, Wilson served as president of MSL North America, global director of P&G and global chief client officer.
