SINGAPORE—SilkAir has appointed Ogilvy PR as its PR agency in Singapore and other key markets in Asia.

The appointment, which commenced as of 1 August 2013, was made after a competitive pitch.

Ogilvy PR’s remit covers corporate branding and promotional support for SilkAir’s 25th anniversary celebrations in 2014. The Singapore Airlines subsidiary recently took delivery of 68 new Boeing 737-800 aircrafts – the biggest aircraft order in SilkAir’s history.

"With our 25th anniversary celebrations coupled with the upcoming delivery of our new Boeing fleet, we’re looking forward to a truly exciting time for the company," said SilkAir chief executive Leslie Thng. "To join us on this journey, we're pleased to be partnering Ogilvy PR, who share our passion for travel and exploration, and whose creativity and enthusiasm are infectious.”

The move marks Silk Air's first appointment of a retained PR firm.

“We are especially proud to be working with such an incredible and respected brand," said Ogilvy PR Singapore MD Andrew Thomas. "This partnership is a great opportunity for us to work together to further elevate the SilkAir brand to new heights across Asia.”
