NEW YORK — Susan Isenberg, a 25-year Edelman veteran, has been named the agency’s global health sector chair, taking the helm of one of the firm’s largest practices.

Developing new health-focused IP, driving new business and developing client relationships are among Isenberg’s charges, as is building out the sector’s expertise in health-tech and biotech. She replaces Kym White, who left the agency to lead communications for Vertex Pharmaceuticals.

“As regulations and technology continually impact the ecosystem of the sector, healthcare companies are looking for smart, new ways to provide people with affordable and effective healthcare,” said Michael Stewart, Edelman’s global vice chair and president of practices and sectors. “Susan’s 30-plus years of experience in healthcare communications and marketing with top global clients makes her the perfect choice to run our health sector, helping organizations navigate the ever-evolving complexities and policies of the industry.”

Isenberg is stepping up to the role from her most recent position as Edelman’s client lead for Johnson & Johnson. Before that, she was global vice chair for the agency’s health sector, overseeing the US.  Earlier in her career, she served as managing director for both the health and consumer marketing divisions in Edelman’s New York office.
