TOKYO—Masami Doi, a 30-year veteran of Toyota Motor Corporation who headed the automaker’s global communications activities, has joined Kreab Gavin Anderson as a partner in the firm’s Tokyo office.

Doi, who spent the last six years at Toyota in charge of public affairs, has experience in reputation management, advising on the company’s response to recall issues in the US, and in corporate planning, sales and marketing and human resources. He will work on worldwide Kreab Gavin Anderson assignments, particularly on behalf of Japanese clients.

Doi spent a number of years posted overseas with Toyota in Europe, and has worked extensively in the Americas and Asia. He is fluent in English, Russian and Czech, in addition to his native Japanese.
