LONDON—Vauxhall has selected Weber Shandwick to handle social media duties in the UK, following a competitive pitch.

The firm secures the business after prevailing over three other contenders, and is tasked with driving social strategy, developing social-first campaigns, content creation and overseeing day-to-day community management.

Weber Shandwick will work across Vauxhall's various brands, including iconic marques like the Astra and Corsa, and newer models such as Adam and Mokka. In the UK, Vauxhall's PR is handled by Kaper, which won the business earlier this year.

"We feel social media has a fundamental role to play in building our brands and driving business value," said Vauxhall brand MD Chris Hawken. "We wanted to work with an agency that really understood how to engage our key audiences – we found that in Weber Shandwick."

The Vauxhall account will be led strategically by Weber Shandwick EMEA social head Danny Whatmough and creatively by EMEA ECD James Nester.

"Vauxhall is a brand that really understands the major opportunity that social presents from a commercial perspective," said Weber Shandwick head of digital Adam Clyne. "We are looking forward to partnering with them to develop campaigns with big ideas at the heart that have a real impact on business results."
