PALO ALTO, CA— VMware recently tapped Oliver Roll to lead communications after Terry Anderson departed the company earlier this year.

Roll’s appointment earlier this fall comes on the back of change at the virtualization giant. In June, the company promoted Robin Matlock to CMO as it retooled its marketing and comms functions. The following month, it brought Hill + Knowlton Strategies on, displacing long-time agency OutCast.

Prior to joining VMware, Roll spent more than 20 years at Microsoft in a variety of marketing and comms posts across the UK, Asia and the US. According to Roll’s Linkedin, he most recently led communications for Microsoft's Office Division.
