LONDON--Waggener Edstrom has named Gareth Davies as head of the firm's Studio D digital practice in the UK.

Davies joins Wag-Ed from MSL London, where he spent five years leading digital efforts. He succeeds Jon Silk, who departed Wag-Ed last year to join Bite Communications.

Davies will be responsible for expanding Studio D's various digital and social media capabilities and growing the practice’s UK footprint among existing and new sectors. He will also oversee key client relationships, digital skills development and work with colleagues across the global Wag-Ed network to identify international growth opportunities.

“Gareth will be leading a fantastic team of designers, developers, strategists, producers, writers and analysts, as well as fantastic clients who understand the value of innovative, integrated communications when engaging with their key audiences,” said Wag-Ed London GM Cairbre Sugrue, to whom Davies will report.

Prior to MSL, Davies spent 12 years in senior digital and PR roles, including establishing Custard PR for Rainier PR and working for Catalysis Communications and Axicom.

“The digital marketing and communications sector is changing rapidly and clients are looking for more sophisticated, fully integrated approaches to campaigns,” said Davies. “It’s very exciting to be joining Waggener Edstrom because I’ll be able to draw on the team’s existing expertise and service offerings to develop a highly differentiated proposition to clients and prospects.”
