MIAMI—Walmart senior director of corporate communications Deisha Barnett is the latest addition to an impressive lineup of in-house communications and marketing executives who will feature at the third Global Public Relations Summit, taking place at the St Regis Bal Harbour Hotel in Miami at the end of this month.

She will be part of a panel led by Cohn & Wolfe global corporate practice head Geoff Beattie, discussing the importance of authenticity from a global perspective.

Barnett is one of several additions to the program, which includes industry leaders from a wide range of sectors, from sports (Major League Soccer communications chief Dan Courtemanche) to food and beverage (Brian Flaherty of Nestle Waters North America) to tech (SAP Asia-Pacific corporate affairs lead Claudia Cortes and VMWare’s Oliver Roll) to venture capital (Alexander Izryadnov Communications of Russia’s Internet Initiatives Development Fund).

They join previously announced speakers from Koch Industries, H&R Block, Columbia Records, Newcastle Brown Ale, Al Jazeera, Paypal, Monsanto, and Target.

“We have an incredibly diverse lineup of speakers, from organizations as different as Koch Industries and Al Jazeera, from a wide range of industries, and from markets in North America, Europe and Asia,” says Paul Holmes, editor of The Holmes Report. “The Global Summit presents a unique opportunity to meet with and learn from a remarkable array of industry leaders.”

Barnett heads up Walmart's US merchandise and brand public relations efforts. She is responsible for planning the retailer's holiday season PR efforts and has also led communications for community giving and diversity initiatives. Her team was instrumental in raising awareness for Walmart’s impact on social issues like food insecurity and women’s empowerment, and helped launch the retailer's first crowd-sourced philanthropy effort in partnership with Facebook.

Prior to joining Walmart, Deisha managed media relations efforts at EarthLink and worked in Ketchum’s consumer brand practice.
