NORWALK, CT – Xerox has hired IBM veteran John Kennedy as CMO following the departure of Christa Carone last fall.

Kennedy, who starts at Xerox on July 28, has spent 18 years at IBM in a variety of roles across marketing, communications, sales and product in both the US and Asia-Pac. Most recently he was VP of IBM’s global business services and, before that, was VP corporate marketing. Before IBM, Kennedy was with Procter & Gamble and started his career with NationsBank (now Bank of America).

“John brings a global view and a proven track record of success changing brand perception and driving strategic business results through integrated marketing and communications,” said Hervé Tessler, senior vice president and president of Corporate Operations, Xerox.

In September 2013, Carone — a 17-year Xerox veteran — left the company to lead corporate affairs, communications and events at Fidelity Investments. During the interim, Xerox’s global PR head Karen Arena partnered with Xerox’s head of operations Duane Schulz to oversee the function.
