Chris Monteiro has spent 17 years at MasterCard Worldwide, leading worldwide communications at the company since 2006, responsible for employee communications; external influencer relations—ranging from traditional corporate media relations, industry analyst relations and social media channel management and digital influencer strategies; reputation and issues management; thought leadership programming; and public policy communications. Over recent years, he has been charged with supporting the global expansion of the communications discipline at MasterCard in order to help the company achieve its vision of “a world beyond cash,” doing pioneering work in social media listening and analysis. Before joining MasterCard, Monteiro worked primarily on the agency side of the business, as vice president, public relations at The Sherry Group and as senior account manager at Wirz & Associates and at Mintz & Hoke. He was also an information coordinator on College Football Saturday and Sports Center at ESPN.
