NEW YORK—The UN organization dedicated to gender equality has returned to Ogilvy PR to handle global PR duties for its popular HeForShe campaign.

UN Women brought in Havas PR at the start of this year to work on the assignment for six months, but has now reverted to Ogilvy PR, which it previously worked with in 2014.

The move follows a competitive review. Ogilvy PR media head Jennifer Risi told the Holmes Report that the one-year assignment will focus on strategic PR counsel and traditional media relations for the HeForShe initiative. The campaign, which is spearheaded by actress Emma Watson, encourages men to fight for gender equality.

Ogilvy PR will work alongside Weber Shandwick, UN Women's existing social media and digital content partner, reporting to UN executive director Elizabeth Nyamayaro.

First launched by Watson at last year's UN General Assembly, the HeForShe campaign aims to to mobilize men and boys in the movement for gender equality. The latest phase involves a university tour in the UK.

At the Holmes Report's Global PR Summit last year, UN Women executive director Elizabeth Nyamayaro explained that "unless we made gender inequality an issue that matters to men and women, we knew that gender equality would never be a reality."
