NEW YORK—Weber Shandwick has been selected as agency of record for Ace Hardware Corporation following a competitive agency review. Weber Shandwick’s consumer marketing practice in Chicago will develop and oversee integrated campaigns that promote and enhance the brand, as well as leveraging emerging media channels to reach new audiences. Last year, Weber Shandwick worked with Ace Hardware to develop and execute “New Faces for Helpful Places,” an integrated national charity campaign that was launched on an episode of the television program, “The Apprentice.” The firm’s first assignment as agency of record is to aid in the development and execution of “Dream Ace,” a fully-integrated campaign that will give aspiring entrepreneurs an opportunity to compete to win his or her own Ace Hardware store valued at $1 million. “The key to our growth will be the continued differentiation of the Ace brand by spotlighting our retailers, who are helpful, entrepreneurial, involved in their communities and connected to our customers,” says Paula Erickson, director of advertising and brand development. “We’re partnering with Weber Shandwick because it demonstrated a true understanding of our brand, brought strong creative thinking to the table, and showcased an impressive track record creating, developing and executing integrated communication plans that drive results.”
