LONDON—Freshwater UK, a public relations, design and training company that listed on the Alternative Investment Market (AIM) in July has completed its first acquisition as a public company, buying Lynx, a Leeds-based public relations consultancy with specialist expertise in the utility sector.

Lynx was founded in 1987 and acts for clients including National Grid, high street bank Halifax, Northern Electric Distribution Limited, Yorkshire Electricity Distribution and York-based Beacon, the purchasing arm of Best Western Hotels and the U.K.’s largest purchasing consortium for the independent hospitality industry.

The 10-strong team will continue to be headed by current managing director Martin Howell.

Steve Howell (no relation), CEO of Freshwater, says: “Lynx is an established brand with an excellent reputation in its region. This acquisition is in line with our strategy to strengthen our regional offering and become the UK’s leading regional PR network. Lynx’s track record in the utilities sector means that we will be able to offer clients across the UK specialist expertise in this area.
