NEW YORK— Ambassador Miriam Sapiro, a former deputy US trade representative in the Obama administration, is joining Finsbury as a partner to run its office in Washington, DC. The corporate and financial communications specialist says it is strengthening its public affairs and communications practice in Washington to meet growing demand for support on cross-border transactions, crisis management, litigation and regulatory issues.

Sapiro served in the Obama Administration for four years and led trade and investment negotiations and enforcement with countries around the world, including launching US-EU negotiations on a Transatlantic Trade & Investment Partnership and integrating Canada and Mexico into the Trans-Pacific Partnership.

She also served as a senior member of the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States and on the Board of Directors of the Overseas Private Investment Corporation.

Sapiro began her career as an international lawyer at the State Department before joining the National Security Council and becoming Special Assistant and Counselor to President Bill Clinton.
