AUSTIN— Russell Keene has been named director and general manager in Burson-Marsteller’s Austin office as the firm expands its leadership team in Austin and Dallas.

Keene’s responsibilities include strengthening Burson-Marsteller’s public affairs practice and government relations capabilities in the Texas state capital, while helping to integrate and grow the firm’s public affairs services throughout the Southwest region.

Most recently. Keene was with the Washington D.C.-based international business advisory firm Kissinger McLarty Associates, where he was responsible for insurance, health care and energy client work. He also spent five years with the American Gas Association in Washington D.C.; five years with Dallas-based fully integrated energy firm Enserch before its acquisition by TXU; and four years in external relations roles with Aetna.

In Dallas, meanwhile, the firm has hired Glen Orr, former vice president at Edelman Public Relations, who will lead work for Safety-Kleen, a waste-management company preparing to emerge from Chapter 11. Sarah Lora, former public information officer for the City of Dallas also joins as a manager in the Hispanic practice.

MIAMI—Burson-Marsteller has named Sarah Lora, a former Telemundo news anchor, as manager of the company’s U.S. Hispanic practice in Texas. She will be responsible for extending the practice’s client service reach in Texas, while serving as a link with Burson-Marsteller’s Latino Leadership & Advisory Council, which brings objective insights and perspectives to Burson-Marsteller clients.

Before joining Burson-Marsteller, Lora was the senior public information officer for the city of Dallas. In this role, she led the city’s strategic media and public relations campaigns focused on the growing Hispanic community in Dallas.
