SAN FRANCSICO—Burson-Marsteller has hired Bob Finlayson, a 20-year technology public relations veteran, as president and CEO of Northern California and managing director in the firm’s U.S. technology practice. Finlayson will be based in San Francisco where he will lead Burson-Marsteller’s regional operations while driving new business and client service, primarily among technology-oriented clients.
“The addition of Bob Finlayson to our Northern California operations underscores our commitment to existing technology clients like HP and SAP, while paving the road for future growth from the sector,” says Christopher Komisarjevsky, president and CEO of Burson-Marsteller, to whom Finlayson will report in his regional leadership capacity.
Prior to joining Burson-Marsteller, Finlayson served as a senior advisor and counselor to a wide range of technology companies including Microsoft, Sony Computer Entertainment of America, Charles Schwab, TiVo, Live Planet, Kana and a number of Internet startups. He was executive vice president with Edelman Worldwide where he oversaw the firm’s work with Microsoft’s Xbox and MSN’s Internet services divisions; general manager of the Silicon Valley office of Blanc & Otus; and vice president for Cunningham Communication.
