NEW YORK—Brunswick Group has added Richard Silverman, former director of global communications for investment bank Lazard, as a partner in the firm’s New York office. Silverman will work on a range of corporate and financial communications accounts, with a particular focus on the financial services sector.

As director of global communications at Lazard from 2003 to 2006, Silverman oversaw all media relations, internal communications, and new media activities across Lazard’s network of international offices. He was also responsible for the firm’s communications efforts during Lazard’s IPO in 2005. Before joining Lazard, he worked at Honeywell International, where he was global director of corporate media relations and external and crisis communications.

Earlier, Silverman held a wide range of senior corporate communications posts at Merrill Lynch, concluding director of global media relations and director of media relations for Europe, the Middle East and Africa. He moved to PR after a journalism career at The Wall Street Journal and Dow Jones News Service.
