CHICAGO—Hormel Foods Corporation, one of the nation’s largest manufacturers and marketers of consumer-branded meat and food products, has selected Burson-Marsteller as its public relations agency of record. Burson will work with Hormel to build its corporate and consumer brands, revitalize its image with key stakeholders and lead media relations for the entire Hormel Foods portfolio.

A current client of Burson-Marsteller’s corporate and financial practice, Hormel has expanded its relationship with the agency, bringing on a team from Burson’s brand marketing practice. The agency’s food and nutrition division will spearhead all consumer media relations, while the corporate and financial practice will handle high visibility projects including executive positioning, corporate social responsibility, crisis communications and overall positioning strategy.

“We selected Burson-Marsteller for its significant corporate positioning and consumer marketing expertise,” says Julie Craven, vice president of corporate communications. “We found the team to have tremendous creativity and passion for our business.”

Burson’s corporate work will be supplemented with an aggressive media relations campaign to promote Hormel brands including Hormel Chili, Stagg Chili, Jennie-O Turkey Store, Hormel Always Tender Flavored Pork and Beef, Chi-Chi’s Salsa, Spam, Hormel Deli Products and Lloyd’s BBQ Products, among others.
