DUBLIN—Edelman has appointed Mark Cahalane as general manager of its Dublin office and named Geraldine O’Neill head of its European consumer practice in addition to her current role as deputy general manager in Dublin.

Cahalane was previously executive director at Drury Communications, a leading independent public relations firm in Ireland, where he specialized in corporate, financial and communications and government relations. He and O’Neill will lead the firm’s Irish operation, which is comprised of 20 consultants working in corporate, consumer, health, technology and design practices. The Dublin office serves clients including Diageo, Sky Ireland, Vodafone, Johnson & Johnson and Pfizer.

“Our Dublin office has always been a creative hub with particularly strong consumer and healthcare practices,” said Edelman European president and CEO David Brain. “With Mark heading the office we now have a strong team to expand our business in Ireland. In the last decade, Ireland has become a European and world center for financial, technology and healthcare companies and Mark’s mandate will be to support these firms throughout our global network.”

Edelman Dublin was previously led by Hugh Gillanders, who joined GE Consumer Finance as European director of corporate communications in January.
