CKPR to Help Lure Visitors Back to Florida

Visit Florida, the state’s official source for travel planning, has selected CKPR to help restore positive perceptions about Florida as a travel destination in the wake of an unusually active hurricane season.

TALLAHASSEE, FL—Visit Florida, the state’s official source for travel planning, has selected CKPR to help restore positive perceptions about Florida as a travel destination in the wake of an unusually active hurricane season. In addition, CKPR was chosen to launch a new program focused on Florida’s revitalized and vibrant downtowns and small towns.

CKPR beat out fellow-finalists Fleishman-Hillard, Lou Hammond & Associates, and Yesawich Pepperdine Brown & Russell, for the account, which is estimated at more than $175,000. The account will be managed out of CKPR’s Orlando office, with support from the agency’s New York office.

CKPR was selected for its depth of experience in the travel and tourism category. Current CKPR tourism industry clients include AirTran Airways, Hyatt Hotels and St. Johns County for their Super Bowl XXXIX effort. Additional client experience includes Walt Disney World’s Swan and Dolphin Resorts, Universal City Walk, and the Orlando and Orange County CVB.

Says Visit Florida director of public relations Vanessa Welter, “This campaign will benefit every Floridian, as tourism is a $51 billion segment of our state’s economy. While the storms caused damage to several areas of our state, today most of our primary tourist destinations are open and welcoming visitors. Conventions and meetings are taking place all over the state this month and visitors are enjoying our theme parks, state parks, beaches and inland areas.  The story this campaign will tell is one of recovery, and a return to business.”
