NEW YORK—Cohn & Wolfe has been named communications agency of record on a pro-bono basis for Project Kaisei, a project of Ocean Voyages Institute dedicated to researching and finding solutions to the “Plastic Vortex,” an area of concentrated marine debris trapped by the circulating currents of the North Pacific gyre.

As marketing communications partner, Cohn & Wolfe will help build awareness for the global problem of plastics in our ocean through innovative outreach and initiatives that inspire people to act and advocate for solutions.

“Project Kaisei was established to increase our global understanding of marine debris, its impact on our ocean environment and how we can introduce solutions for both prevention and clean up,” says Doug Woodring, co-founder of Project Kaisei. “Cohn & Wolfe’s commitment and passion to environmental responsibility, combined with their incredible creativity and communications capabilities, will surely help turn the world’s attention to this massive issue.”
