Kaltman promoted to vice president of corporate communications at the Motion Picture Association of America, plus new people in new roles at Talbots, eCardio Diagnostics, OrthoSynetics, and Arch Coal.

LOS ANGELES—Elizabeth Kaltman has been promoted to vice president of corporate communications at the Motion Picture Association of America. Kaltman, who had been director of corporate communications for more than two years, will continue to be based in the MPAA's Los Angeles office and report to Seth Oster, executive vp and chief communications officer. She will take on more responsibilities related to the MPAA's international work and its education and copyright awareness and protection efforts.


HINGHAM, MA—The Talbots, a specialty retailer and direct marketer of women's apparel, shoes and accessories, has appointed Meredith Paley as vice president, public relations, for the Talbots brand. Paley will be responsible for directing the brand's fashion public relations initiatives amd will work closely with the company's creative and marketing teams. Paley most recently served as group vice president of public relations and public affairs at Kenneth Cole Productions.


THE WOODLANDS, TX—eCardio Diagnostics has named Rachael Lille Moore director of marketing and communications. Lille Moore joins eCardio from Washington, D.C. based Strand Communication Strategies, where she served as managing director.  Previously, she was public relations manager for the Heart Rhythm Society and earlier managed strategic communications and physician and patient education projects at APCO Worldwide. She will oversee all marketing communications functions for eCardio, including marketing planning, corporate communications and media relations.


METAIRIE, LA—OrthoSynetics, a leading provider of business services to orthodontic and dental practices worldwide, has added April stewart as corporate communications manager. Stewart joins OrthoSynetics) from The Athena Group in New York, where she served as vice president of marketing & sales. Prior to that, Stewart worked for Sky Life Concepts where she specialized in business-to-business services and strategic market management.


ST. LOUIS—Arch Coal has elected Deck Slone vice president, government, investor and public affairs. Slone previously held the position of vice president, investor relations and public affairs. In his new position, Slone will have leadership responsibility for Arch's federal and state government affairs functions, in addition to his ongoing responsibilities for the corporation's investor relations and corporate communications efforts. He joined Arch Coal in 1997 and was elected vice president, investor relations and public affairs in 2001.
