DENVER—Whiting Petroleum Corporation has named Jack Ekstrom as vice president, corporate and government relations. Ekstrom joined the company in 2008 as executive director, corporate communications and investor relations. Previously, he served in management positions in corporate communications and government affairs for Pioneer Natural Resources, Evergreen Resources and Forest Oil.
NEW YORK—Online luxury retailer Gilt Groupe has named Jennifer Miller as vice president of corporate communications. In a newly expanded role within Gilt Groupe's marketing department, reporting to president and chief marketing officer Carl Sparks, Miller will primarily focus on strengthening relations with business and consumer press, engaging consumers directly and enhancing employee communications. Prior to joining Gilt Groupe, Miller served as the executive director of public relations for Conde Nast Digital, including Style.com (the online home of Vogue), Men.Style.com (now GQ.com), Concierge.com (online home of Conde Nast Traveler), Epicurious.com and Brides.com. Before her time at Conde Nast, Miller was vice president of corporate communications at DoubleClick.
LAS VEGAS—Roxann Kinkade has been promoted to director of external communications for Ameristar Casinos, and will handle company press releases and other external communications as well as media relations. She will report to senior vice president of government relations and public affairs Troy Stremming. Kinkade joined Ameristar Casino Hotel Kansas City in 2004 as public relations manager from Johnson County K-State Research & Extension.
MIAMI—The North American Soccer League has hired Kartik Krishnaiyer as its director of communications and public relations. Krishnaiyer is best known in soccer circles as the host of the EPLTalk.com and MajorLeagueSoccerTalk.com podcasts. His other experience includes working with candidates for public office, issue advocacy groups, and private sector corporations.
