Scott Howat, formerly director of corporate communications, has been named director of global communications at Affinia Group, plus new people in senior roles at Vibrant, Pinnacle Security and Spectrum Brands.

ANN ARBOR, MI—Scott Howat, formerly director of corporate communications, has been named director of global communications at Affinia Group, leader in the design, manufacture, distribution and marketing of industrial grade products and services, including extensive offerings of aftermarket parts for automotive and heavy-duty vehicles. Howat is managing all avenues of communication throughout global Affinia. He joined Affinia in 2004 upon the company's formation, developing Affinia's first corporate communications program. Prior to Affinia, he served in management roles in brand marketing, product management and sales for Echlin and Dana Corp.


NEW YORK—Jonathan Gardner has been named director of communications at Vibrant, a leader in contextual technology and in-text advertising. In this new role, Gardner will be responsible for public and media relations as the company continues its tremendous forward momentum. He has worked for Cornell University, Weber Shandwick and other PR consultancies. He was managing director of Edelman’s Taipei office and as a director at Hill and Knowlton in Hong Kong. He has created and led programs on behalf of such clients as, Aviva, BenQ, CA, LG and Microsoft. In addition, he has worked as an editor for the South China Morning Post in Bangkok and as a blogger for CNET in Asia.


OREM, UT—Pinnacle Security, a leader in the residential and commercial security market, has appointed Stuart Dean as vice president of corporate communications, responsible for public relations initiatives, media relations, corporate advertising, social media campaigns, customer marketing programs and more. Dean will report to chief operating officer Steve Hafen. Most recently, he was director of corporate communications for APX Alarm.


MADISON, WI—Spectrum Brands Holdings, a global consumer products company, has named David Prichard as vice president, investor relations and corporate communications. He reports to Tony Genito, executive vice president and chief financial officer and is responsible for investor and shareholder relations, executive communications, external communications, media relations, public affairs and issues management, corporate identity, and corporate social responsibility and reputation management. He was previously managing director of Chicago-based IR firm Demakos Partners.
