Durand Joins Ogilvy as Part of Strategy and Planning Team

Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has hired Michael Durand, founder of the healthcare practice at Porter Novelli and a 21-year veteran of the firm, as managing director. Durand will be a part of the firm’s strategy and planning team.

NEW YORK—Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide has hired Michael Durand, founder of the healthcare practice at Porter Novelli and a 21-year veteran of the firm, as managing director. Durand will be a part of the firm’s strategy and planning team, a group of global senior counselors that works closely with Ogilvy leadership to drive growth with existing healthcare clients and participate in business development initiatives across healthcare and other practices worldwide. 

According to global CEO Marcia Silverman, “Michael’s deep knowledge of the healthcare industry, his passion for public relations and his focus on leveraging integrated marketing communications, such as our 360 Degree Brand Stewardship approach, to maximize message penetration, makes him the ideal fit for our organization.”

Durand has worked with a wide range of healthcare and pharmaceutical clients and has managed the launch and ongoing public relations initiatives for many landmark drugs including Taxotere for Aventis, Diovan for Novartis and Vytorin for Merck/Schering Plough. He has also conducted corporate positioning and issues management programs for such companies as Amgen, Cephalon, Glaxo SmithKline and Bristol-Myers Squibb.

He was a partner and senior counselor in the healthcare practice at Porter Novelli.
