HONG KONG—Edelman has agreed a strategic business partnership with Indo Pacific Public Relations, one of Indonesia’s largest independent public relations firms. The move was prompted by the increased interest of regional and global clients in deepening their footprints in the ASEAN region’s largest economy. The new brand, Indo Pacific Edelman, will be launched in April.

Senior technical advisor to IPPR Chadd McLisky, will continue to lead a team of 114 staff and will work closely with Bob Grove, Edelman’s managing director for Southeast Asia, to support clients, particularly in the healthcare, technology, FMCG and oil and gas sectors. Recent indicators of economic confidence in the region include the announcement by the Central Statistics Bureau that the economy grew 6.1 per cent during the fourth quarter of 2006, the fastest pace in two years.

Says Alan VanderMolen, “With economic growth exceeding 5 percent annually over the last three years and real per-capita income passing pre-financial crisis levels, we see a vibrant market for foreign multinationals to sell their products and services in Indonesia. IPPR’s independent spirit, culture of excellence and focus on achieving real business outcomes for clients have had a huge bearing on its leading position and reputation as the most award-winning agency in Indonesia.”
