BRUSSELS—Just days after announcing a new partnership with Brussels public affairs firm The Practice, Edelman has hired political, media and corporate veteran Kajsa Wilhelmsson as director of European health public affairs to lead health public policy and advocacy for Edelman in Europe. Wilhelmsson will also help guide the strategy of the global health practice.
Wilhelmsson has more than 20 years of experience in the political, media and corporate environments. In her most recent role with European think-thank Health Consumer Powerhouse, she was instrumental in growing the group from a Swedish start-up to a global force in health consumer information. Prior to her work at HCP, Wilhelmsson worked for Baxter, HELA (the Swedish trade association for private healthcare providers) and Swedish Nuclear Fuel.
“Healthcare is no longer a private affair between doctor and patient,” says Nancy Turett, global president of Edelman’s health business. “While still deeply personal, it is at the same time a massive socioeconomic issue. Optimizing access, utilization, safety, and communication requires productive health engagement and debate among stakeholders, including governments, industry, advocacy organizations, health professionals and the public.”
