New business success for Echo Research, Edelman and Kaizo; new talent at Edelman; and an acquisition for The Scott Partnership,

LONDON—Echo Research, the global reputation and communication research firm, has been named lead contractor for EU-related media analysis for the European Commission, ahead of nine rival bidders. The four-year framework contract is expected to be worth between €4 and €7 million. Media analysis and flash reports will be prepared for members of the European Commission and Directorates-General spanning the EU’s 27 member states across a wide variety of topics.

STOCKHOLM—Edelman has named Linda Waxin as general manger of Edelman Sweden. Waxin has spent her recent career in senior board-level positions roles first, as business development manager and creative and digital director at Spotlight PR and latterly as head of the PR division of Jung Relations. Waxin started her career at AxiCom, a pan European technology PR agency and after that developed her consumer marketing profile at JMW Kommunikation.

LONDON—Kaizo has been appointed by GetTaxi, a GPS based taxi ordering and dispatch service, following a competitive pitch. The agency launched the service to businesses in July and will oversee a consumer campaign later this year.

LONDON—Edelman has been appointed represent Lithium Technologies, a leading global provider of social customer software and solutions. Under the agreement, Edelman London will represent Lithium Technologies in the UK. Lithium helps build engaged communities of customers across Facebook, Twitter, or branded sites.

CHESHIRE, UK—Business-to-business marketing agency The Scott Partnership is acquiring life science PR agency Kapler Communications, which will become part of the Scott Partnership holding company but continue to operate as a wholly-owned stand-alone business. The deal is part of Scott’s strategy to build international centres of excellence for life sciences and healthcare, chemicals and environmental clients.
