LONDON—AxiCom Cohn & Wolfe has been appointed to handle U.K. PR by Helsinki based Mirasys, one of the world's leading providers of open platform digital CCTV and video surveillance solutions. The U.K. has more CCTV cameras than anywhere else in the world, but the debate about their effectiveness is becoming increasingly heated. Mirasys chief executive officer Jukka Riivari explains: “CCTV cameras are of limited use unless you can find and extract the critical images quickly and effectively. That's what we help people to do. AxiCom demonstrated a better understanding of the dynamics of our business than the other companies with whom we met. This is a highly cluttered and somewhat confused market, and AxiCom's job will be to help us stand apart from the competition.””

LONDON—Crisis communications specialist Regester Larkin has hired Andrew Fairburn as a board director. Larkin joins from Hill & Knowlton and brings with him over 13 years’ of issues management, government relations and political analysis experience. Regester Larkin also recently appointed Rob Sherwin as director and Regester Larkin Middle East managing director, and promoted Claire Snowdon to the board.

LONDON—Citigate Dewe Rogerson has been appointed by WhiteConcierge, a leading global concierge company, to handle its corporate communications. Citigate was appointed in April following a competitive pitch against four other European agencies. The account will be led by Citigate executive director Phil Anderson supported by directors Alistair Kellie and Holly Clark. They will report into WhiteConcierge marketing director Richard Thomas. The firm will initially be raising awareness of WhiteConcierge in the U.K., French, German and Iberian markets through its European agency network. Originally a division of Travelex, WhiteConcierge was last year acquired by a management team with support from Euram Bank, the Austrian private bank.
HELSINKI—Outi Torniainen has been appointed as director, corporate communications at Electrobit. She will be responsible for corporate communications including investor and press relations and internal communications and will also participate in the brand and marketing communication. Torniainen joins EB from the Stonesoft Corporation, where she acted as vice president, marketing and communications. She will report to CFO Panu Miettinena
