NEW YORK, February 26—Sheila Fagan, a 20 year veteran of the healthcare communications business, has joined Hill & Knowlton as senior managing director and head of the New York Healthcare practice. Fagan, formerly executive vice president at Publicis-owned healthcare specialist Sciens Worldwide is following in the footsteps of former Sciens president Kathy Cripps, who until recently led H&K’s U.S. healthcare practice before being named president of the Council of Public Relations Firms.

Fagan will report to Philip Sheldon, general manager of the agency’s New York office, and will serve on the New York office management committee and the global healthcare practice leadership team.

Says Sheldon.  “Her high-touch, hands-on client involvement, strategic counsel and ability to use the breadth and depth of a global agency’s resources will be invaluable to our clients.”

Fagan has developed and managed health education, marketing support, public policy, coalition development, corporate image, and issues and crisis programs for major and emerging companies in ethical pharmaceuticals, OTC products, diagnostics, devices, vaccines, biologicals, gene-based healthcare, digital engineering and high-technology platforms.

Before joining Sciens, she held positions as senior vice president at Ogilvy Public Relations Worldwide and vice president at Burson Marsteller and Ketchum.
