CHICAGO—The Specialty Crop Farm Bill Alliance has awarded its media relations and public affairs work to Chicago-based Zapwater Communications, after a competitive review that included several Washington, D.C., public affairs firm. The Alliance— co-chaired by Florida Fruit & Vegetable Association, National Potato Council, and Western Growers—has been developing a series of farm bill policy recommendations that it hopes will be included in the 2007 Farm Bill.

The coalition has retained Zapwater to develop and implement a communication plan to support its lobbying efforts and to respond promptly with consistent messages to the farm bill debate as it intensifies. Zapwater will also coordinate grassroots activities on behalf of the alliances’ almost 100 agricultural organizations from across the country.
