SAO PAULO—FD has expanded its offering to Sao Paulo, Brazil, with the appointment of two seasoned finance and communications professionals: Anthony Dovkants as managing director and head of FD’s Brazil operations, and Ana Paula Alcântara as senior vice president. The two will work with existing teams in Colombia and Panama to provide counsel for the firm’s clients in Latin America’s largest economy.
Miguel Silva, who was instrumental in recruiting the new team, will continue to take a lead role in the integration of the Latin American region with the rest of the Americas and FD globally.
Dovkants is a former top financial news journalist who, for the last several years, covered mergers and acquisitions and an array of complex financial issues across Latin America for International Financing Review magazine. In his new role, he will leverage his relationships with top bankers and corporate executives following a decade of reporting working to establish FD in this critical growth market. He earlier was the bureau chief of Dow Jones Newswire’s Rio de Janeiro, Sao Paulo and Brazil bureau and earlier reported for The Wall Street Journal Europe, European Business News and London Evening Standard.
Alcântara joins FD with experience counseling companies on campaign development, media relations strategy and issues management programs. She has also headed up press offices for an array of Brazilian companies and founded three communications firms in Brazil.
