NEW YORK—Maria Figueroa Kupcu, previously a partner in the New York office of Brunswick Group, has been appointed New York office head.

In nine years with the firm, Figueroa Kupcu has led work helping companies define their broader social purpose, supporting campaigns including PepsiCo’s Performance with Purpose and Anheuser-Busch InBev’s Better World. She anchors Brunswick’s business and society practice in the US and launched the firm’s global stakeholder engagement offer.

She has also worked with industry leaders such as The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, International Finance Corporation, Cisco, IKEA, and World Wildlife Fund.

Before joining Brunswick in 2007, Figueroa Kupcu was director of international political and corporate campaigns for the market research and strategy firm Penn Schoen Berland. She has advised on six presidential campaigns, including the 2000 election in the former Yugoslavia and contests in South Korea, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe.

She began her career with the United Nations, working to reconcile government, business and NGO positions on environmental and social issues such as water risk and labor rights.
