WASHINGTON, DC—FTI Consulting has appointed Elizabeth Alexander, a former aide and press secretary to US Vice President Joseph Biden, as managing director with the firm’s strategic communications segment in Washington, DC. She will advise clients on legislative, regulatory and investigative matters.

Alexander began her five-year tenure with Biden in 2006, first as then-Sen. Biden’s press secretary and later as communications director. During this time, she served as the primary spokesperson, managed the communications staff and directed national media relations strategy for both Sen. Biden and the US Senate Foreign Relations Committee, of which he was chair.

Most recently, Alexander worked for the Department of Justice as a federal prosecutor, first in Washington, DC, and then in Alexandria, Va., managing and prosecuting a large criminal caseload as well as advising the US Attorney for the Eastern District of Virginia on strategic planning and media relations.

Alexander also previously has served as press secretary for the United Nations Foundation, press secretary for the Democratic National Committee Chairman Terry McAuliffe, communications director for California Congressman Adam Schiff and deputy press secretary for US Sen. Charles Schumer of New York.
