NEW YORK—David Cantor, chief spokesman for New York City public schools and chancellor Joel Klein, will join Widmeyer Communications and lead its New York-based education, arts and philanthropy practice. Cantor brings nearly 20 years of strategic communications expertise to his new role as a senior vice president at Widmeyer.

Cantor has served as press secretary in the New York City Department of Education for the past five years. Cantor also worked for the Anti-Defamation League as director of the Civil Rights Information Center, where he lectured nationally about social trends and movements, civil rights and anti-Semitism.
